With the success of Fast Forward Service 97e, SBS Transit is pleased to extend this new service on more routes.
On 28 March 2005, SBS Transit will launch Fast Forward Service 174e which will ply between Boon Lay Bus Interchange and North Bridge Road via Orchard Road during peak hours, and call only at bus stops where there are high passenger boarding and alighting activities.
Like Service 97e, the routing of Fast Forward Service 174e follows that of its existing parent Service 174, but will call at less than half of the bus stops that Service 174 does during peak periods. This means that commuters travelling on Fast Forward 174e can expect to save up to 20% in travel time.
Along the express sectors, Fast Forward 174e may operate flexible routeing when the situation requires to maximise the savings in journey time for passengers by avoiding areas with heavy congestion. For example, it may ply Sixth Avenue on its forward journey to North Bridge Road in the morning peak, instead of Farrer Road if the latter is congested.
During the morning peak hours, Fast Forward 174e will depart from Boon Lay Bus Interchange between 6.50am and 7.40am towards North Bridge Rd. In the evening peak hours, it will leave North Bridge Road between 6.00pm and 6.45pm towards Boon Lay Bus Interchange.
Details of the stops and estimated arrival times can be found at all the bus stops called by the service. Commuters can also log on to the dedicated Fast Forward website at www.ffw.com.sg for more information. Promotional brochures are also placed at Boon Lay Bus Interchange and distributed at the major bus stops to be served by the service.
To encourage more passengers to try out this new Fast Forward service, SBS Transit will charge a promotional normal adult fare for the two weeks between 28 March and 8 April 2005. From 11 April 2005, commuters will pay fares of $1.53 to $2.28 if they pay by ez-link card or $1.60 to $2.35 if they pay by cash. This fare is the same fare as the existing Express services. Similarly, transfer rebates will be given but concessionary travel is not applicable.
Fast Forward Service was first introduced on Service 97 on 3 January 2005 and called Fast Forward Service 97e. Since the introduction, commuters can generally save up to 20% on their journey time
