Safety Features on SBS Transit Buses
SBS Transit accords top priority to safety and our buses are equipped with comprehensive safety features to enhance the safety of passengers. When you board our bus on your next trip, look out for some of these safety features.
 
Bus Stopping Sign
Lights up when passengers press the bell to alight.

Accelerator Interlock
The interlock locks the throttle when the bus doors are not fully closed. The bus captain cannot move the bus until the doors are fully closed.

Top Speed Limiter
This device prevents our buses from going faster than 60km/h.

Yellow Steps
The steps are covered with bright yellow floor cover to allow when passengers to see the steps clearly when boarding and alighting.

Door Stay-Close System
Prevents doors from opening once the bus is moving at a speed of more than 5km/h.

Infra-Red Photosensors
Installed at the exit doors on the inside of the bus, these sensors enable accurate sensing of objects and better coverage of alighting passengers. The doors of the bus will nto close if the sensors detect an object at the door.

Door Closing Signal
Lights up when the doors are closing to warn passengers.

Exit Door Overhead Infra-Red Photosensor
This additional weather-resistant photosensor is fitted on the external of the bus above the centre of the exit door arch. This sensor ensures that the doors do not close on alighting passengers.

Asbestos-Free Brake Linings
All brake linings on our buses asbestoxs-free and thus do not harm workers, passengers or the environment.

Euro Engines
Most of our buses have Euro-1 engines. These engines meet the stringent emissions standard set in Europe.

CFC-Free Refrigerant
All SBS air-con buses use CFC-free refrigerant so as not to contribute to ozone depletion.

Stanchion Poles and Handrails
These help passengers when moving in the bus. They are yellow and textured so thast they are easily visible to passengers.
