Single-Deck Low-Floor Bus
The Citybus comes with many new customer comfort, safety and environmentally friendly features. The bus has four unique features which scored firsts on Singapore roads:
   
• Euro-2 Engine
  It is the first public bus in Singapore to have a Euro-2 engine. This engine complies with the latest stringent Euro-2 emission standards set in Europe, making it the "greenest" public bus in Singapore. All SBSTransit buses purchased since 1993 are equipped with Euro-1 engines.
   
• Foldable Seats
  The set of three seats automatically retracts and is located opposite the exit door. This creates a holding area for passengers waiting to alight and encourages more passengers to move to the rear of the bus.
   
• Zero-Step from Entrance to Exit
  This bus is stepless from the entrance right through to the exit door. The low-floor and stepless aisle makes boarding and alighting safer and easier.
   
• Front Disc Brakes
  Unlike other public buses which operate on front and rear drum brakes, this bus, like a car, has disc brakes on its front wheels. The braking effect is hence more uniform and stable.
   
Other features include electronically controlled air suspension which provides greater ride comfort. Three-branch stanchion poles also allow more passengers to have a hand hold.

Singapore's First Low-Floor Superbus
The new Volvo Superbus, launched in September 1999, is the first of a new generation of double deck buses equipped with industry-leading features that are firsts for double deckers in Singapore. These include a low-floor design and stepless aisle for greater passenger convenience, electronic air suspension system for improved ride comfort and Euro-2 engine that produces less noise and cleaner emissions.
 
Better Ride Comfort
• Front Independent Suspension with Full Electronic Air Suspension System
  This feature produces excellent ride comfort for passengers. The electronically controlled suspension system constantly monitors the bus height and adjusts the air pressure to match the passenger load, thus achieving superb road holding and high stability.
   
• Front Disc Brakes
  This Superbus operates like a car, with disc brakes on its front wheels. Vehicles installed with front disc brakes produce more uniform braking.
 
Cleaner and Greener
• Euro-2 Engine
  Euro-2 engines comply with the latest and most stringent noise and emission standards set in Europe, producing cleaner exhaust and less noise.
   
• Turbocharged Electronic Diesel Control Engine
  The electronic diesel control on this Superbus comes with variable fuel injection to provide precise fuel metering and results in excellent fuel economy and low emissions.
   
• Electronic Air Cleaners
  Electronic air cleaners purify the saloon air to provide passengers with a healthy ride.
   
• Outswing Plug Door
  The plug door helps to minimise the leakage of cool air from within the bus, hence reducing the amount of energy needed to cool the interior of the bus.
 
Enhanced Passenger Convenience
• Low Floor Design
  The low floor feature is designed for improved passenger convenience. Passengers will find boarding and alighting faster and easier.
   
• Zero-Step From Entrance to Exit
  Also known as a stepless aisle, this feature not only makes boarding and alighting easier but is also more convenient and user-friendly for children and the elderly.
