Distance Fares has been implemented on 3 July 2010.

Transfer Rules

  • Pay with an EZ-Link or NETS Flashpay stored value card
  • You may make up to 5 transfers within a single journey, with a 45-minute allowance between each transfer
  • You can take up to 2 hours to complete your journey
  • You can enter and exit the train network only once in a journey
  • You should not take the same bus service number more than once in a journey

Children & Students

Free travel

Children up to 0.9m in height and accompanied by fare-paying passenger may travel free.

From 24 June 2013 to 23 June 2014, free travel is available on the MRT for all commuters who tap out at 16 designated city stations before 7.45am on weekdays (excluding public holidays). More information is available here.

Concessionary travel with student identification pass

Children above 0.9m in height enjoy concession with a Child ez-link card or School Smartcard.



Senior Citizens

Singapore citizens and permanent residents of age 60 years and above holding valid concession cards are eligible for concessionary travel throughout the day. Senior concession cash fares remain unchanged.
