Maintenance Works on the Sengkang and Punggol LRT Systems

SBS Transit will be conducting maintenance works on the Sengkang and Punggol Light Rail Transit (LRT) systems on Sundays over the next five months.

The maintenance works, which will begin on Sunday, 20 December 2015, are expected to end on 8 May 2016. LRT service will still be available on affected days but they will only operate in one loop direction. This is because power supply on the guideways, which are paths on which the Light Rail Vehicle (LRV) moves, will need to be turned off and loops in one direction closed for safety reasons. Service on affected loops will only commence at 5.30pm on maintenance days.

Maintenance of the guideways is essential to ensure a smooth and comfortable ride for passengers. This is because guideways can become bumpy over time, due to wear-and-tear. Our engineers will be hacking concrete and cutting metal as part of the maintenance works. This may be quite noisy and temporary noise barriers will be put up to reduce noise. We would like to apologise to commuters and residents in the area for any inconvenience caused.

Announcements will be made and posters put up progressively at affected LRT stations as well as the Sengkang and Punggol Town Centre Stations to inform commuters of the LRT loop closures.

Please refer to the attached annex for the maintenance schedule.
