SBS Transit's Christmas Double Promotion Attracts More Than 8,000 Commuters

16 December 2005 - MORE than 20,000 entries by more than 8,000 commuters - that's how successful SBS Transit's Christmas Promotion has been. And more bids are still being logged in every day.

The Christmas Double Promotion, which involves both the online auction and lucky draw has so far received strong response from commuters. Since the online auction started on 13 December 2005, we have received almost 2000 bids to date. One of the winners in the online auction is David Ferrao who has submitted the highest bid of 117 Transit dollars for a CD player and 197 Transit dollars for a DVD player, two of the three items available for bidding on 14 December 2005.

Collecting his prizes from Mr Ong Boon Leong, Executive Director, SBS Transit today, Mr Ferrao said, "Whenever the opportunity presented it, my wife and I would choose to take SBS Transit buses over competing modes of travel partly because of this promotion coupled with the convenience of direct services to our working places."

On the promotion, Mr Ong said, "We have initiated quite a few promotions this year, but this is the first time we have tried an online auction. Judging from the response, our commuters have obviously received it very well. We hope this has made some of our commuters like David very happy, and hopefully injected some fun into the daily travel of all our commuters."

Commuters who have not submitted their bids can put in their bids daily until before midnight 24 December 2005. Transit dollars accumulated between 12 November and 19 December can be used in the auction. There are three items available for bidding each day except on 24 December which a 20 inch LCD TV will be offered for bidding. Commuters need to register via the SBS Transit website,, to participate in the online auction. They can also check the balance of their transit points on the website.

All commuters will be eligible for a lucky draw with $10,000 cash and 17 other prizes to be won. The lucky draw is the second part of the Christmas Double promotion. The more "Transit dollars" they accumulate, the more chances they get. The closing date for the lucky draw is 2 January 2006 and winners will be picked on 9 January 2006.

This Christmas Double Promotion is only applicable for travelling on board SBS Transit buses and trains (North East Line, Sengkang LRT and Punggol LRT).
