Residents from Hougang will soon have easier access to the amenities in Kovan City when SBS Transit starts a trial run of Service 115 on 30 October 2004 for a period of 6 months.
The service will depart from the bus stop at Kovan City and ply along Hougang Avenue 1, Hougang Avenue 3, Upper Serangoon and back along Hougang Street 21. It operates on all days with the first bus and last bus departing at 0715hrs and 1815hrs respectively.
Mdm Cynthia Phua, MP for Aljunied GRC said, “We have been looking forward to this new service. Besides providing a link between Hougang residents and Kovan City, we also hope that it will help to boost the business for the retailers in Kovan City.” Mdm Phua will be launching the new service at the bus stop along Hougang Street 21 Food Centre on 30 October 2004 at 8.15am. The service will commence only after the launch ceremony at 8.25am.
Speaking on the new initiative, Mr Ong Boon Leong, Chief Operating Officer, SBS Transit said, “We have received feedback from Hougang residents about the need for a new link to Kovan City. Working with the grassroot leaders, we are pleased to be able to launch this new service which we hope will be well-received by the residents.”
Currently, in order to get to Kovan City, residents from Hougang Avenue 3 could take Service 81 to alight along Upper Serangoon Road, walk to Hougang Avenue 1 to connect to Service 113 or Tampines Road to connect to Service 112.
