With the imminent opening of VivoCity and to facilitate the construction works to integrate the existing SBS Transit’s HarbourFront North East Line station with the new Circle Line station being constructed, there is a need to modify the current concourse paid area for smooth commuter flow. As such, the Land Transport Authority will be carrying out the first phase of the A&A works on the concourse of HarbourFront station starting from the early hours of Monday, 2 October 2006 to Sunday, 15 October 2006.
The first phase of A&A works involves relocating some of the existing fare gates and to provide for increased commuter capacity. The new location for the fare gates will be situated closer to the linkway leading to Entrance B that leads to HarbourFront and the new Entrance E. The second phase of A&A works will be undertaken later and this will eventually allow commuters to have a paid to paid connection between the North East Line and Circle Line.
LTA’s contractor will erect a hoarding measuring 3 metres by 7 metres across the concourse free area to cordon off the work area and to keep dust out while works are in progress. To minimize noise, the contractor will not carry out hacking works during the morning and evening rush hours.
Commuters may look forward to smoother passage through the relocated fare gates and bigger concourse paid area from Sunday, 15 October 2006. Minor A&A works will continue and will be completed by the end of October 2006.
LTA and SBS Transit apologise for any inconvenience caused.
