28 December 2006 – From 1 January 2007, ComfortDelGro will dispose of unclaimed properties that are found on board its SBS Transit buses and trains as well as Comfort, CityCab and Yellow-Top taxis by donating them to the Salvation Army.
This has been approved by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) which will cease to administer lost and found properties for public transport operators in the new year.
Under the new arrangement, all recovered properties will be kept for three months. Following this, a notice of the unclaimed properties will be posted on the websites of the Group’s respective business areas, which will run for 7 calendar days, before the items are donated to charity.
All properties, with the exception of firearms, controlled drugs, individual sums of money in excess of $1,000 and official documents such as NRICs, passports and ez-link cards, will be donated to the Salvation Army. The exception items will be handed over to the relevant organisations such as ICA, LTA, TransitLink and the embassies.
