The ComfortDelGro Group is stepping up precautionary measures amid the heightened alert on the swine flu epidemic.
With immediate effect, all staff including Bus Captains and rail staff from subsidiary SBS Transit will undergo daily temperature checks. Masks, gloves and infra-red thermometers are being distributed throughout the Group as part of our Business Continuity Management Plan. Quarantine areas have also been identified and all staff have been briefed on the steps that are needed in the event a staff member or a visitor or customer is found to be exhibiting flu-like symptoms. To raise awareness of the situation, posters are being printed to remind staff, visitors and passengers of the need to improve hygiene levels.
All frontline staff, including Bus Captains, customer service personnel, vehicle inspectors and driving school instructors have been reminded to up their hygiene levels in the wake of the outbreak. Travel advisories have also been sent out to advise against travel to affected countries.
In view of the large number of passengers who use our services every day, additional steps will be undertaken to ensure their well-being. Preparations are being made to disinfect our buses, trains and taxis throughout the day. In the case of our buses and trains, the process will involve disinfecting the seats, handrails, stanchion poles, grab bars, windows and doors. Similarly, we are also working closely with our Taxi Associations to distribute disinfectants to our drivers and set up temperature checkpoints for them.
We continue to monitor the situation closely and will roll out more measures if needed. We are also in close contact with the regulatory bodies in all the countries we operate in.
