Chinatown Dumpling Festival 2006 will be held at the heart of Chinatown (right beside Food Street), at Kreta Ayer Square from 26th May 2006 (Friday) to 31st May 2006 (Wednesday). This year, Chinatown celebrates the traditional festival with a 1st ever dumpling showcase of some of the best and most unusual dumplings in Singapore as well as around the region. Apart from the already mouth-tasty, wide variety of local’s authentic dumplings at the event, overseas chefs from Laos, Philippines, Malaysia etc, will be specially invited to demonstrate and showcase their countries’ traditional dumplings. Throughout the event dates, the centre stage at Kreta Ayer Square will be filled with various different dumpling-themed programs, including Live music and dance performances, exciting dumpling games and attractive prizes. A specially choreographed Qu Yuan Drama Story with incorporated Chinese Wushu and Martial Arts will be the central highlight among the many programs. While being immensely entertained, crowds at Chinatown can also take a short cultural tour through the cultures and traditions of the festival by touring through the event’s dumpling exhibition section. This event will also feature the first ever Deep Fried Dumpling in Singapore.

Daily Show Time : 5pm, 7pm and 9pm
Drama Synopsis:
The show will start with an Emperor Banquet.
The Emperor was watching a series of performance with the Eunuch by his side.
The first show will start with a lady performing Shui Liu Xing (5mins)
Then follow by 2 martial art performance (4mins)
Then by a pair of twins doing hand acrobats. (4mins)
The show was later interrupted by Qu Yuan. He came up to report bad news on the lives of commoner but the Emperor chose to believe in the Eunuch.
Qu Yuan was later taken away and he performed a series of drunken fists and sword (3mins).
Due to the disappointment with the system, he later committed suicide in the river.
Finale ends with the lady acrobats performing flexibility stretch with the dumpling signifying the people's desperate hope of saving their saint Qu Yuan(4mins)
