Asset renewal and maintenance works on the Sengkang LRT system

SBS Transit’s asset renewal and maintenance works for the Sengkang Light Rail Transit (LRT) guideways which the Light Rail Vehicles (LRVs) move on will resume from 16 June and continue until 20 October 2019. To provide our engineers with more time, these works will be carried out on Sundays during passenger service hours. During this period, one platform of the Sengkang LRT will be closed until 5.30pm on selected Sundays. Train service will continue to operate as usual on the other platform and serve all stations on the loop.

During the extended engineering hours, asset renewal works will be conducted for the viaduct bearings, signalling cables, power rails as well as the stations’ Public Announcement systems.

Maintenance works will also be conducted on the concrete plinths which the wheels of the LRVs travel over. These plinths need resurfacing due to wear-and-tear over time. Regular maintenance ensures that we can continue to provide commuters with smooth rides. To minimise inconvenience to residents, temporary sound barriers will be put up when these works are being carried out.

Publicity posters will be put up at LRT stations to keep commuters informed of the maintenance works carried out. Commuters will also be informed via announcements on the LRT platforms and alerts on SBS Transit’s social media pages. Staff will be deployed on the ground to inform and guide commuters on affected dates.
