Downtown Line Service Disruption
4 October 2016 – Train service on the Downtown Line between DT6 King Albert Park and DT7 Sixth Avenue stations was disrupted at about 6.25am this morning due to a platform screen door fault. The faulty platform screen door meant that trains could not pass through the station towards Chinatown. As such, our engineers quickly worked to dismantle the door. While this was being done, train service between DT1 Bukit Panjang and DT6 King Albert Park, as well as between DT7 Sixth Avenue and DT19 Chinatown continued to operate.
Once the dislodged Platform Screen Door was removed, the area was cordoned off and full train service was able to resume at 8.25am.
Free bus rides and bridging bus service were available during the disruption to enable commuters to continue their journey. We also worked closely with the Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board to render assistance to the candidates who were taking their examinations this morning.
The Platform Screen Doors 9 and 10 on Platform B at the Sixth Avenue Station are currently not in operation. Work on repairing the platform screen door will be carried out after passenger service hours tonight. We are investigating the cause of the Platform Screen Door fault with the Land Transport Authority and the contractor.
We apologise to all affected commuters for the inconvenience caused
