Maintenance works to resume on Sengkang and Punggol LRT systems
SBS Transit will resume its asset renewal and preventive maintenance works on the Sengkang and Punggol Light Rail Transit (LRT) systems on 4 March 2018. Works had commenced in January 2018 before stopping for the Chinese New Year festive period in February.
The works will continue to be undertaken on Sundays during passenger service hours. Commuters can continue to enjoy LRT services which will still be available at all stations with the Light Rail Vehicles (LRVs) running as usual in one direction while service in the opposite direction on the other platform will commence later at 7.00am on maintenance days.
We seek commuters' understanding that one platform will have to be closed as power supply to its guideways will need to be turned off for safety reasons. Guideways are paths on which the LRVs move.
The asset renewal works include replacement of the power rail and power rail assemblies, while enhanced preventive maintenance works are carried out on the signalling cables.
