NEL Disruption on 26 October 2015
26 October 2015 – Train service on the NEL was disrupted at the start of service this morning due to a power fault.
At 6.51am, Southbound service came back up and at about 7.20am, Northbound service commenced.
The power fault was caused when a new test train snapped the contact wire of the Overhead Catenary System power supply line as it was withdrawing back to the NEL depot.
Free bus rides and shuttle buses have been made available during the disruption to try and minimise inconvenience to commuters. Students who are taking examinations may approach staff at the Passenger Service Centre for assistance. We have informed the Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board of the service disruption.
We will investigate the cause jointly with the Land Transport Authority.
We apologise to affected commuters for the inconvenience caused.
