Route Amendment for Services 22, 65 and 506

With the Downtown Line (DTL) offering additional and faster travel options to commuters, bus services with sectors duplicating the DTL have seen a reduction in ridership as commuters switched from buses to taking the rail, in particular for longer haul journeys. Therefore, with effect from 12 December 2021, we will be making route amendments to Services 22, 65 and 506.

Service 22
Service 22 currently operates between Ang Mo Kio and Tampines Bus Interchanges. With the amendment, Service 22 will operate between Ang Mo Kio and Eunos Bus Interchanges, and no longer ply the sector between Eunos Link and Tampines Bus Interchange. Commuters can still complete their journeys by MRT or alternative bus services. Key alternative bus services include Services 8 and 65 along Bedok Reservoir Road and within Tampines.

Service 65
To maintain the localised unique connectivity previously provided by Service 22 between Tampines Bus Interchange, Tampines Avenue 4 and Bedok Reservoir Road, Service 65 will be consequentially amended to Tampines Avenue 4, skipping two pairs of bus stops along Tampines Avenue 1 and Avenue 5. Commuters at the skipped bus stops can take alternative Services 21, 67 and 168 to transfer to the amended Service 65 along Bedok Reservoir Road.

Service 506
Service 506 currently operates between Jurong East Bus Interchange and Upper East Coast Bus Terminal via Toa Payoh. With the amendment, Service 506 will operate between Jurong East and Serangoon Bus Interchanges, with an express sector along PIE between Bukit Batok and Toa Payoh. This means that the service will no longer serve the eastern region, e.g. Bedok Reservoir and Bedok. Key alternative bus services include Services 5, 8 and 59 between Bedok Reservoir Road and Toa Payoh, with Services 5 and 59 also having an express sector via the PIE between Toa Payoh and Jalan Eunos. Other alternative bus services in the eastern region such as Bedok and Bedok Reservoir include Services 21, 25, 28, 45, 46, 67 and 228. In addition, commuters can take the MRT for longer haul travel.
