Train and Bus Services during Christmas Season
17 December 2014 - SBS Transit will be extending the operating hours of its train and bus services on Christmas eve, Wednesday, 24 December 2014. There will also be changes to the operating hours of selected Fast Forward and Express services.
On Christmas Day, Thursday, 25 December, 14 bus services will be diverted as parts of Orchard Road will be closed due to road closure for the Celebrate Christmas in Singapore 2014 event.
I) CHRISTMAS EVE
A. EXTENSION OF HOURS
1. TRAIN SERVICES
Train services on the North East and Downtown Lines will be extended by about one and a half hours on 24 December 2014.
On the North East Line, the last train in the direction of HarbourFront will depart Punggol Station at 1.02am, Serangoon Station at 1.13am, Dhoby Ghaut Station at 1.25am, Chinatown Station at 1.29am and Outram Park Station at 1.31am. The last train towards Punggol will leave HarbourFront Station at 1.33am, Outram Park Station at 1.36am, Chinatown Station at 1.38am, Dhoby Ghaut Station at 1.42am and Serangoon Station at 1.54am.
Services on the Punggol and Sengkang LRT systems will also be extended to coincide with the last train arrivals on the North East Line. The last train on the Sengkang LRT will depart the Town Centre Station at 2.09am while the last train on the Punggol LRT will leave the Town Centre at 2.10am.
On the Downtown Line, the last train in the direction of Bugis will depart Chinatown Station at 1.25am, Bayfront Station at 1.30am and Promenade Station at 1.32am. The last train towards Chinatown will leave Bugis Station at 1.27am, Promenade Station at 1.29am and Bayfront Station at 1.31am.
2. BUS SERVICES
To complement the extension of the train operating hours, the last bus timings of 32 selected bus services – 2, 12, 33, 51A, 60A, 63M, 97, 133, 181, 222, 225G, 228, 229, 232, 238, 240, 241, 243G, 261, 269, 282, 291, 292, 293, 315, 325, 333, 334, 358, 359, 400 and 410W - will also be extended at their respective bus interchanges/terminals.
In addition, the six Nite Owl services will be extended to operate until 4.00am.
B. CHANGES IN OPERATING HOURS
Eleven services - 10e, 14e, 30e, 74e, 89e, 97e, 128, 151e, 174e, 196e and 513 - will not be in operation during the evening peak hours given that offices will be closed earlier on Christmas eve. However, these services will operate return trips from the city from 1.00pm to 2.00pm instead. There is no change in the operating hours of these services from the heartlands to the city for the morning trips.
II) CHRISTMAS
Fourteen SBS Transit bus services - 7, 14, 16, 36, 65, 111, 123, 124, 143, 162M, 174, 175, 502 and 518 - will skip three bus stops along Orchard Road and Paterson Road due to road closures for the Celebrate Christmas in Singapore event. This will be from 1.00pm on Thursday, 25 December to 1.00am on Friday, 26 December.
The affected bus stops are:
* Bus Stop 09047, in front of Tang Plaza, Orchard Road;
* Bus Stop 09048, in front of Lucky Plaza, Orchard Road; and
* Bus Stop 13191, in front of Paterson Lodge, Paterson Road.
