Train and Bus Services on Eve of Lunar New Year (18 February 2015)

On the eve of the Lunar New Year, Wednesday, 18 February 2015, SBS Transit will be extending the operating hours of its train and bus services. Train services will operate two hours longer than usual while the last bus timings for 38 bus services will be extended. Selected bus services will also be affected by road closures as well as changes in their regular operating hours.

 

A. EXTENSION OF HOURS

1. TRAIN SERVICES

On the North East Line, the last train in the direction of HarbourFront will depart from Punggol Station at 1.33am, Serangoon Station at 1.44am, Dhoby Ghaut Station at 1.56am, Chinatown Station at 2.00am and Outram Park Station at 2.02 am. The last train towards Punggol will leave HarbourFront Station at 1.55am, Outram Park Station at 1.58am, Chinatown Station at 2.00am, Dhoby Ghaut Station at 2.04am and Serangoon Station at 2.16am.

Services on the Punggol and Sengkang LRT systems will also be extended to coincide with the last train arrivals on the North East Line. The last train on the Sengkang LRT will depart from the Town Centre Station at 2.30am while the last train on the Punggol LRT will leave the Town Centre at 2.32am.

On the Downtown Line, the last train in the direction of Bugis will depart from Chinatown Station at 1.52am, Bayfront Station at 1.56am and Promenade Station at 1.58am. The last train towards Chinatown will leave Bugis at 1.48am, Promenade at 1.50am and Bayfront Station at 1.52am.

 

2. BUS SERVICES

To complement the extension of the train operating hours, the last bus timings of 35 selected bus services - 2, 12, 33, 51A, 60A, 63/63M, 80, 97, 124, 133, 147, 181, 197, 222, 225G, 228, 229, 232, 238, 240, 241, 243G, 261, 269, 282, 291, 292, 293, 315, 325, 333, 334, 358, 359 and 410W - will also be extended at their respective bus interchanges.

In addition, the operating hours of the three Chinatown Direct Services - CT8, CT18 and CT28 - will be extended. The last bus heading to Chinatown will depart from their respective heartlands at 11.00pm instead of their usual time at 4.30pm. The last bus back from Chinatown will depart at 1.55am from the bus stop after Hospital Drive (bus stop number 10017) along Eu Tong Sen Street.

 

B. CHANGES IN REGULAR OPERATING HOURS

Eleven services - 10e, 14e, 30e, 74e, 89e, 97e, 128, 151e, 174e, 196e and 513 - will not be in operation during the evening peak hours given that offices will be closed earlier on eve of Lunar New Year. However, these services will operate return trips from the city between 1.00pm and 2.00pm instead while Express 513 will operate two trips at 1.15pm and 1.30pm. There is no change in the operating hours of these services from the heartlands to the city for the morning trips.

 

C. BUS STOPS SKIPPED DUE TO ROAD CLOSURES

Fifteen SBS Transit bus services - 2, 12, 33, 54, 63, 80, 124, 143, 145, 147, 166, 197, CT8, CT18 and CT28 - will skip eight bus stops along Eu Tong Sen Street, New Bridge Road, Outram Road and Upper Cross Street due to road closures for the Chinatown CNY Countdown 2015 event. This will be from 5.00pm on Wednesday, 18 February to 3.00am on Thursday, 19 February.
