Train and Bus Services On Eve of Lunar New Year (30 January 2014)
On the eve of Lunar New Year, Thursday, 30 January 2014, SBS Transit will be extending the operating hours of its train and bus services. 15 bus services will also be affected due to the CNY Countdown event being held in Chinatown.
1. EXTENSION OF OPERATING HOURS
TRAIN SERVICES
On the North East Line, the last train in the direction of HarbourFront will depart Punggol Station at 1.33am, Serangoon Station at 1.44am, Dhoby Ghaut Station at 1.56am, Chinatown Station at 2.00am and Outram Park Station at 2.02 am. The last train towards Punggol will leave HarbourFront Station at 1.55am, Outram Park Station at 1.58am, Chinatown Station at 2.00am, Dhoby Ghaut Station at 2.04am and Serangoon Station at 2.16am.
Services on the Punggol and Sengkang LRT systems will also be extended to coincide with the last train arrivals on the North East Line. The last train on the Sengkang LRT will depart the Town Centre Station at 2.30am while the last train on the Punggol LRT will leave the Town Centre at 2.32am.
On the Downtown Line, the last train in the direction of Bugis will depart Chinatown Station at 1.47am, Bayfront Station at 1.52am and Promenade Station at 1.54am. The last train towards Chinatown will leave Bugis at 1.45am, Promenade at 1.48am and Bayfront Station at 1.50am.
BUS SERVICES
To complement the extension of the train operating hours, the last bus timings of 32 selected bus services - 2, 12, 51A, 60A, 63 / 63M, 80, 124, 147, 181, 197, 222, 225G, 228, 229, 232, 238, 240, 241, 243G, 261, 269, 282, 291, 292, 293, 315, 325, 333, 334, 358, 359 and 410W - will also be extended at their respective bus interchanges and bus stops.
Operating hours of three Chinatown Direct Bus Services - CT8, CT18 and CT 28 - will also be extended. The last bus heading to Chinatown will depart from their respective heartlands at 11.00pm instead of their usual time at 4.30pm. The last bus back from Chinatown will depart at 1.55am from the bus stop after Hospital Drive (bus stop number 10017) along Eu Tong Sen Street.
2. CHANGE IN REGULAR OPERATING HOURS
There will be a change in the operating hours of 11 services - 10e, 14e, 30e, 74e, 89e, 97e, 128, 151e, 174e, 196e and 513 - on eve of the Lunar New Year. They will not be operating from the City during the regular evening peak hours given that offices on that day will be closed earlier. However, they will operate from the City from 1.00pm to 2.00pm instead.
3. BUS STOPS SKIPPED
From 5.00pm on Thursday, 30 January, to 3.00am on Friday 31 January, the three Chinatown Direct bus services - CT8, CT18 and CT28 - together with 12 other bus services - 2, 12, 33, 54, 63, 80, 124, 143, 145, 147, 166 and 197 - will skip eight bus stops along Eu Tong Sen Street, New Bridge Road, Outram Road and Upper Cross Street. This is due to road closures for the Chinatown Chinese New Year Countdown.
