Update: Platform Screen Door malfunctioned at Botanic Gardens Station on the Downtown Line

SBS Transit has completed its investigations into the cause of the fault of the Platform Screen Door (PSD) at the Downtown Line Botanic Gardens Station on 3 May 2017.

Investigations revealed that water seepage had damaged the electrical components of one of the PSDs at the Station. The water seepage was caused by natural groundwater seeping in from the space above the PSD. The seepage has since been grouted by injecting a polyurethane chemical to fill the void, and act as a water stop.

The platform screen doors at the Station were last checked in September 2016 as part of routine maintenance. None were found to be faulty and no water seepage was observed then. Following this incident, all DTL and NEL PSDs and their electrical wiring and components were inspected and minor water seepage was found at two PSDs at the King Albert Park Station. However, their electrical components were not affected and we have since grouted the seepage.

We are working with the Land Transport Authority on the water seepage issue.

We apologise to all affected commuters for the inconvenience.
