SBS Transit introduces vehicle location system to more bus services

The Vehicle Location System (VLS) will be introduced on another five service routes - 3, 194, 282, 284 and 285 with effect from 23 August 2004. This follows the successful launch of the system early this month on five service routes - 40, 228, 265, 268, 506.

And given the positive reception to our goodwill ambassadors who have been stationed on the buses to help familiarize commuters with the system, SBS Transit will deploy another 37 goodwill ambassadors during the peak period on 23 August 2004 to the five new VLS service routes to assist commuters.

Mr Ong Boon Leong, Chief Operating Officer of SBS Transit said, " The feedback that we got was that passengers generally did not experience any problems with the system and most of them welcomed it as they are assured of more accurate fare deduction. They also appreciated the SBS Transit goodwill ambassadors who were on board to help them with enquiries on the new system."

Posters and decals will also be displayed at respective bus interchanges and buses to inform customers about the VLS.
