Boring buses? Not on Singapore roads.
Come December, 150 SBS Transit buses will be fitted with bright red three-dimensional Santa caps as part of a new $200,000 marketing campaign. Complete with a draping fluff ball over the rear of the bus, these “Santa buses” will ply the roads for a month.
“Buses are one of the most visible modes of transport. We thought it would not only be visually pleasing but a novel way to bring our advertisers’ message to the masses. We are very excited about this new campaign,” said ComfortDelGro Group Corporate Communications Officer Tammy Tan.
Indeed, advertisers too are all abuzz. United Overseas Bank Group, which will be promoting its credit card services on these buses as part of its year-end marketing efforts, described the buses as “iconic”.
Another advertiser, film distributor United International Pictures (UIP), will be using the buses to promote its Christmas comedy "Surviving Christmas" which stars Ben Affleck and Christina Applegate. Ms Flora Goh, UIP marketing manager said the 3-D fixture was eye-catching and would tie in with the movie’s Christmas theme.
And the festivities will not end there. Plans are afoot to run a similar campaign for the Chinese New Year season.
