SBS Transit Introduces Three New Fast Forward Services
16 September 2005 – Encouraged by an improvement in journey time by up to 10 to 15minutes, SBS Transit will introduce three more Fast Forward Services, namely 10e, 30e and 89e on 19 September 2005.

These new Fast Forward Services are expected to benefit some 60% of the existing commuters in their parent services during the peak hours with travel time reduced by about 20%. The services will also operate on a concept of flexible routing for the express sectors of their coverage. The flexible routing allows the services to reduce journey time by avoiding areas with heavy congestion. They will instead use other roads which may not be parallel to the parent route.

SBS Transit first launched its Fast Forward Services on 3 January 2005. Since then, Services 97e and 174e have seen a growth in demand.

Below is a brief description of the three new services:

Fast Forward Service 10e

Operate between East Coast and Shenton Way, Service 10e will ply via Bedok Road, Upper East Coast Road, Mountbatten Road, Nicoll Highway, Collyer Quay, Raffles Quay and Shenton Way in the morning peak from 7.45am to 8.15am. In the evening peak from 6.15pm to 6.45pm, it will ply in the opposite direction towards East Coast.

Fast Forward Service 30e
Operate between Bedok Interchange and Pasir Panjang Road, Service 30e will ply via New Upper Changi Road, Changi Road, Dunman Road, Old Airport Road, Fort Road, Telok Blangah Road and terminate at Pasir Panjang Road in the morning peak from 7am to 8am. In the evening peak from 5.30pm to 6.30pm, it will ply in the opposite direction towards Bedok Interchange.

Fast Forward Service 89e
Operate between Hougang Central Interchange and Changi Airport Cargo Complex, Service 89e will ply via Hougang Avenue 10, Sengkang East Avenue, Compassvale Road, Compassvale Street, Punggol Road, Loyang Avenue, Telok Paku Road, Airline Road and Airport Cargo Road in the morning peak from 6.45am to 7.45am. In the evening peak from 5.45pm to 6.45pm, it will ply in the opposite direction towards Hougang Central Interchange.

All Fast Forward Services operate from Monday to Friday at the stipulated peak periods.

To encourage more passengers to try out these new services, SBS Transit will charge a promotional normal adult fare for two weeks between 19 September and 30 September 2005. From 3 October 2005, commuters will pay fares of $1.56 to $2.31 if they pay by ez-link card or $1.60 to $2.35 if they pay by cash. This fare is the same fare as the existing Express services. Similarly, transfer rebates will be given but concessionary travel is not applicable.

In conjunction with the launch of the new services, passengers travelling on Services 10e and 30e will get to enjoy 20% discount from Polished Divas, a nail lounge when they show their bus ticket. The promotion is valid from 19 September to 19 October 2005. Polished Divas is located at 237B, Victoria Street, Bugis Village.

For passengers travelling on 89e, they can redeem a bottle of Coffee-mate creamer with three bus tickets at Hougang Central Interchange. The promotion is also valid from 19 September to 19 October 2005 and is while stocks last.
