Overdid it at the malls? Too many bags to lug onto the bus or train and risk having the crowds smash them? Don’t want to call for a cab? Well from tomorrow (15 December 2007), SBS Transit has the perfect solution for you.

Our latest premium service, called CityShopper, offers commuters a guaranteed seat from the suburbs to the city and back in air-conditioned comfort.

The eight CityShopper services which are being launched will ply from eight neighbourhood towns - Ang Mo Kio, Bedok, Hougang, Punggol, Sengkang, Simei, Tampines and West Coast – and offer direct connections to Orchard Road and Suntec City. Unlike normal bus services, these CityShopper services have been introduced to cater specifically to a group of commuters who are willing to pay a bit more for a more comfortable and convenient ride. They are also designed to make maximum use of expressways to offer commuters a more direct and faster journey.

CityShopper services will operate every 30 minutes between 10.00am and 4.30pm from Mondays to Fridays and from 10.00am to 10.00pm on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays.

Flat fares of between $3.30 and $3.60 per trip will be charged for adults and $1.00 per trip for children as well as student concession cardholders. There will be no concessionary travel but standard travel transfer rebates will apply for commuters using ez-link cards on SBS Transit services.

SBS Transit Chief Operating Officer, Mr Gan Juay Kiat, said: “We are excited to launch the CityShopper services as an alternative mode of transport for commuters to travel to the city.

With these new services, we hope residents from the neighbourhood towns will enjoy greater convenience, comfort and accessibility for their shopping needs.”

To celebrate the launch of the new service, a lucky draw will be conducted where commuters can stand to win an LG mobile phone.
