Train and Bus Services on New Year’s eve
24 December 2014 - SBS Transit will be extending the operating hours of its train and bus services on New Year’s eve, Wednesday, 31 December 2014. There will also be changes to the operating hours of selected bus services including Fast Forward and Express services.
In the evening, 21 bus services will be diverted due for the countdown events that are being held at Boon Lay and Marina Bay.
A. EXTENSION OF HOURS
1. TRAIN SERVICES
Train services on the North East and Downtown Lines will be extended by about two-and-a-half hours on New Year’s eve.
On the North East Line, the last train in the direction of HarbourFront will depart Punggol Station at 1.45am, Serangoon Station at 1.56am, Dhoby Ghaut Station at 2.08am, Chinatown Station at 2.12am and Outram Park Station at 2.14am. The last train towards Punggol will leave HarbourFront Station at 2.16am, Outram Park Station at 2.19am, Chinatown Station at 2.21am, Dhoby Ghaut Station at 2.25am and Serangoon Station at 2.37am.
Services on the Punggol and Sengkang LRT systems will also be extended to coincide with the last train arrivals on the North East Line. The last train on the Sengkang LRT will depart the Town Centre Station at 2.52am while the last train on the Punggol LRT will leave the Town Centre at 2.55am.
On the Downtown Line, the last train in the direction of Bugis will depart Chinatown Station at 2.04am, Bayfront Station at 2.09am and Promenade Station at 2.11am. The last train towards Chinatown will leave Bugis Station at 2.10am, Promenade Station at 2.12am and Bayfront Station at 2.14am.
2. BUS SERVICES
To complement the extension of the train operating hours, the last bus timings of 32 selected bus services – 2, 12, 33, 51A, 60A, 63M, 97, 133, 181, 222, 225G, 228, 229, 232, 238, 240, 241, 243G, 261, 269, 282, 291, 292, 293, 315, 325, 333, 334, 358, 359, 400 and 410W - will also be extended at their respective bus interchanges/terminals.
In addition, the six Nite Owl services will be extended to operate until 4.00am.
B. CHANGES IN OPERATING HOURS
Eleven bus services - 128, 10e, 14e, 30e, 74e, 89e, 97e, 151e, 174e, 196e and 513 – which will not be in operation during the evening peak hours, given that offices will be closed earlier on New Year’s eve. Services 128, 10e, 14e, 30e, 74e, 89e, 97e, 151e, 174e and 196e will operate return trips from the city from 1.00pm to 2.00pm while Express 513 will operate two trips at 1.15pm and 1.30pm. There is no change in the operating hours of these services from the heartlands to the city for the morning trips.
C. BUS STOPS SKIPPED DUE TO ROAD CLOSURE
1. COUNTDOWN @ BOON LAY
From 6.00pm on Wednesday, 31 December 2014 to 1.00am on Thursday, 1 January 2015, three bus services - 99, 240 and 246 - will skip eight bus stops along Boon Lay Drive, Boon Lay Place and Corporation Road due to road closures.
2. MARINA BAY SINGAPORE COUNTDOWN
Eighteen bus services - 10, 36, 56, 57, 70M, 97, 100, 111, 130, 131, 133, 162M, 195, 196, 400, 402, 502 and 518 - will skip 12 bus stops along Bayfront Avenue, Collyer Quay, Connaught Drive, Esplanade Drive, Fullerton Road, Marina Boulevard, Raffles Avenue and Temasek Avenue. The bus stops will be skipped in phases from 6.00pm on Wednesday, 31 December 2014 to 1.00am on Thursday, 1 January 2015 and buses diverted accordingly.
The six Nite Owl services will also skip two bus stops along Raffles Avenue and commence service from the bus stop in front of St. Andrew's Cathedral (bus stop 04167) along North Bridge Road from 12.00am to 1.00am on Thursday, 1 January 2015.
